Join us at 7pm in the Orwell Community Hall for an evening of Irish
fun and laughter. Organizer Martina Doyle has lined up a tremendous array of local
talent. A small admission will be charged, home made fudge will be on sale at
intermission.

Bay Scenic Look Off
Located adjacent to our parking lot the newly created Orwell Bay Scenic Look
off will provide you with the visually stirring landscape of the soft, rolling
hills, and gentle pastoral agricultural vistas gently meeting the ocean that our
Gentle Island is so famous for. Relax as you view various seabirds and other
aquatic life, plus the visual treats associated with the blues, reds and greens
that comprise the natural palette of colors unique to PEI. The entrance is
signed off our parking lot, and includes picnic tables for your enjoyment.
Picnic lunches are available for take out from Anna's Tea room.
Anna's Tea Room
Open daily in season - our tea room
serves a simple menu of traditional food, well prepared and reasonably priced,
that includes sandwiches, soup, home baked cookies and our delicious buttermilk
scones. We also offer a picnic lunch, packed to travel in a wicker basket to be
enjoyed on site at one of our many picnic tables. (subject to refundable
deposit).

A ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee) is a gathering or house party, and a great introduction to storytelling, singing, fiddling and dancing. Ceilidh at the Corner is PEI's oldest, a traditional event at Orwell Corner since the early 1970's. Join fellow travellers and Islander alike in a two hour evening performance by award winning entertainers. You'll be invited onstage yourself if you'd like to share your talent or if you've brought an instrument stay afterwards and join in an acoustic jam. It all takes place in the community hall of our historic 1890's Village in eastern PEI. Admission is $10.00for adults, (12 and under $5.00, family rate $25.00).

Ceilidh Value Package - If you'd like to begin your evening with a very nice supper we are pleased to suggest our "music and scoff" package. The package includes a 6pm seating for a meal served at our neighbors, MacPhail's Homestead, the restored mid 1800's home of Sir Andrew MacPhail that features the finest fresh local produce and reserved seats at the Ceilidh. Cost of this package is $29.99 per person, taxes included. We are also pleased to partner with our neighbors at Craigview Farm Motel and Bed & Breakfast (www.peisland.com/craigview/)to offer you overnight accommodations. Price will vary depending on type of accommodation but will average $40.00 per adult and $10.00 per child per night, plus taxes. All reservations must be paid for by cash or credit card prior to 5pm on Wednesday. Anyone purchasing these packages will receive complimentary admission day passes to Orwell Corner.

Sundays at the Corner
On selected Sundays we turn our focus to creating
an atmosphere fun, discovery and learning for the entire family. Activities will
include a concert featuring local entertainment, wagon rides, blacksmithing and
shingle making demonstrations, ice cream making, children’s games, tea room
service and tours of the Village. In addition to these activities each Sunday
will feature a local artisan displaying his or her craft and a special theme
that will add an extra dimension to the day. Pets are welcome but must be kept
on a leash. Regular
admission prices apply.
Children 8 to 14 can come and spend the day at
Orwell Corner from 8:30 am to 5 pm participating in a variety of hands-on
activities: play some traditional games, tour the site, and visit the blacksmith
shop. Advance booking is recommended as space is limited. The $20/child/day fee
includes material costs (lunch provided, family rates available). To

July 13 - Senior's Tea
Sunday 2-4pm.
Orwell corner is delighted to invite Island seniors in for a visit and a spot of
tea. Bring back a few memories with a tour of the 1895 rural crossroads village
and new Agricultural museum, smell the smoke from the blacksmith shop or hear
the clip clop of a draft horse. Entertainment will be provided by Helen MacRae
and Friends performing music that was popular during the 30's and 40's. Admission is free for all seniors. For more information call 651-8515.
July 20- Noon - 4pm
Noon –4pm.The day will feature a poultry show of
chicken and duck breeds which were recognized by the American Poultry
Association prior to 1900. The
day also offers tours of the 1895 crossroads village and new Agricultural
museum, canteen or tea room service, traditional crafts demonstrations and a
concert featuring young Island fiddler Courtney Hogan. Regular admission

July 29 - Sean-o-Sea's
Birthday Party (under development)
2-4pm. Our first born purebred Canadian
foal, Sean-o-sea is one year old and we're having a party. Joining us for the
occasion will be William Grant from Connecticut who submitted the winning name
for the foal, Evelyn Trask who owns the sire, Demi Duc Mollson who will also be
on hand, and representatives from the Canadian horse association will be
on hand to answer questions about this truly National breed. Music will be
supplied by the Ed & Ruth Fitzgerald. Our newest Canadian foal, a
filly, born July 3, will be named and introduced to the world today. Regular

- The Joyous Sound
2 - 4pm. Join well known
Island vocalist Flora Ann Whitty for this concert and sing-a-long. Presented in
the historic (1861) Orwell Presbyterian Church this presentation of Gospel music
will pay homage to the timeless music which comforted and inspired our
fore-fathers. Discover for yourself this “Joyous Sound”. Regular admission

Aug 19 - An afternoon
of Ragtime (under development)
2-4pm. Join 15 year old piano player Max
Keenlyside in a concert of rag time piano. Max, recently moved here from Ottawa
with his family has been wowing Island audiences with his truly impressive
repertoire of ragtime music. Come hear our old upright get a workout unlike its

Aug 26 - Fresh from our Garden
2-4pm. In addition to all other
regularly scheduled Sunday activities enjoy a complimentary ear of corn or baked
potato.

Oct 4- Orwell WI HarvestfestDinner
The
Harvestfest Dinner. This traditional Thanksgiving dinner of
turkey with all the trimmings is sponsored and prepared by the ladies of the
Orwell Women’s Institute as a fundraiser to help support their activities.
Served in the historic Orwell community hall, this dinner will be followed by
entertainment. If you leave here hungry it won’t be our fault. Tickets are
available at Orwell Corner in August by calling 651-8515.

Victorian Christmas Dinner
Prepared and served by members of the Orwell Corner Board of Directors this
Victorian style dinner, served in the traditionally decorated, kerosene lit
Orwell hall, will certainly bring back memories, and will rate as one of the
highlights of your Christmas season. Beginning with the freshest Orwell Cove
oysters, you will also enjoy a sample of haggis, and a turkey dinner with all
the trimmings. Your meal will be topped off by a decadent cake and brown sugar
sauce dessert, followed by a sing-a-long of Christmas Carols. For further

Orwell Christmas Concert
Friday evening at 7pm.
Close your eyes, smell the fresh decorations, the kerosene lamp, hear the
excited voices of the children, see the teacher nervously hover about, and you
will have no trouble imaging yourself stepping back in time to a Christmas
concert in the one room school of your youth. Held in the Orwell Hall, this
traditional concert is presented by the children from the Vernon River School
and features an evening of song, dance and laughter, the sale of homemade fudge,
and a visit from the jolliest of elves, St Nick. A great evening of wholesome
